ABOUT
MED RESPONSE BC

Med Response BC (MRBC) is a nonprofit organization designed to address critical gaps in emergency and transport medicine for rural, remote, and Indigenous communities in British Columbia.

OUR MISSION

To empower and enable BC clinicians to address health inequities through innovative programs which improve access for ’Edge’ communities and patient populations.

"Focused on the edge, for the benefit of all"

HOW WE AIM TO DELIVER ON OUR MISSION.

Rooted in a commitment to health equity, MRBC aims to deliver culturally safe, patient-centered care through innovative rescue, retrieval, repatriation, and immediate care services. Our model leverages interprofessional clinical teams — physicians and nurses —supported by dedicated aviation, logistics, and communication systems. MRBC enhances access to high-acuity care, facilitates system coordination, and supports rural clinicians through education, peer learning, and real-time support. As a BC society governed by a diverse membership and a robust governance framework, MRBC enhances the existing system without duplicating BCEHS services, instead aligning with Ministry of Health priorities and complementing current infrastructure. Its goals include reducing preventable deaths, rural-urban health outcome disparities, improving provider experience, and strengthening healthcare system resilience in under-served regions.
