About the Opportunity
BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) is seeking patient partners to participate in its Ambulance Redesign Project. This initiative aims to improve how ambulance services are delivered across the province—focusing on patient experience, system efficiency, and equitable access to care.
Participants will contribute lived experience and insight to inform system improvements, ensuring that redesign efforts reflect the realities of patients, families, and communities.

Why This Matters to MRBC
This opportunity aligns closely with MRBC’s mission to enhance access to timely, high-quality care—particularly for rural, remote, and Indigenous communities. As highlighted in MRBC’s broader work, gaps in transport, coordination, and patient-centred care continue to impact outcomes across the province .
Engagement in initiatives like this helps ensure that system redesign is:
Grounded in real patient journeys
Informed by rural and remote perspectives
Aligned with emerging models of prehospital and retrieval medicine
Who Should Consider Applying
MRBC encourages applications from:
Patients and family members with experience navigating emergency or transport care
Community members, especially from rural or underserved regions
MRBC’s Perspective
While MRBC continues to advance complementary models of care, including interprofessional retrieval teams and enhanced coordination, meaningful system change also depends on engagement within existing structures. Opportunities like this provide an important channel to influence provincial direction from within to build a more open and collaborative system.
